Abstract

Transitions in heat transfer in a rotating horizontal porous layer is investigated analytically using the modified Galerkin Technique. Critical conditions for the onset of steady and oscillatory convection are determined and it is found that subcritical motions are not possible in physical situations; a rotating porous layer also suffers transitions in heat transfer similar to the viscous layer, and the non-linear momentum advection term has negligible effect on the results.
