Abstract

Total carbohydrates, glycogen, and proteins were detd. in B. intermedium during synchronous division induced by growing cultures at 12° for 95 hr and then at 38° for 24 hr (1) and compared with ciliates grown at room temp. (2) and at 12° for 95 hr (3)​. Total proteins were 61, 59, and 93 mg​/106 cells; glycogen was 11, 9, and 12 mg​/106 cells; and carbohydrates were 14, 20, and 31 mg​/106 cells for 2, 3, and 1, resp.
