Abstract

Unilateral sciatectomy of the gastrocnemius muscle of frog produced during 1 month a significant atrophy and changes in the compn. of lipids and lipid metabolites. Total lipid decreased and cholesterol increased after denervation. Lipoprotein classes and phospholipids remained unchanged. Differences in the concn. gradient of fats and fat metabolites in muscle and blood revealed the possible existence of permeability changes. Denervation apparently results in increased fatty acid degrdn.
