Abstract

The infinitesimal-​steady and time-​dependent (overstable) stability of flow through porous media of a fluid heated uniformly from below and cooled from above, subjected to uniform rotation, was studied using the method of S. Chandrasekhar (1961)​. The infinitesimal steady convection requires higher values of the Rayleigh no. than the infinitesimal overstable convection and the overstable motion occur because they can reduce the stabilizing effect of rotation and permeability of the porous media. Both rotation and permeability inhibit the onset of convection in porous media.
